01 How to delete your account
You can delete your InstantJob account and the personal data associated with it at any time, either directly in the app or on the web, or by email if you no longer have access to the app.
In the app or on the web
- Sign in and open Settings (the gear icon on your profile), then choose Delete account.
- Enter your password to confirm. If you are an employer with an active paid subscription, cancel it first — the app will tell you if this applies.
- Your account is closed immediately, you are signed out on every device, and we send a confirmation email.
- You have 30 days to change your mind: signing in again during this period restores the account. After 30 days your personal data is permanently erased and the account cannot be recovered.
By email
- Send an email to privacy@instantjob.app with the subject line "Delete my InstantJob account".
- Send it from the email address registered to your account, or include the mobile number you signed up with, so that we can verify that the request comes from you.
- We will confirm the request by email and may ask one verification question if the sender address does not match the account.
- Your account is closed as soon as the request is verified, and the same 30-day period and permanent erasure described above apply.
Tip: If you only want to stop receiving notifications or hide your profile from the map, you can do that from Settings in the app without deleting your account. You can also download a copy of your data first from Settings → Download my data.
02 What is deleted
Once the 30-day period ends, the following is permanently deleted or stripped of anything that identifies you:
- Account data: name, email address, mobile number, password, profile photo, two-factor authentication secrets and identity verification records (including the verified selfie)
- Professional and company data: skills, languages, certifications, work history, rates, availability, preferences, home or search address, company profile, logo and business-proof documents
- Job activity: your applications and saved jobs are deleted; job listings you posted are closed and their title, description, address and photos are removed; the text of reviews you wrote or received is removed
- Support tickets: the content of your support tickets is removed
- Location and device data: stored locations, sessions and push notification tokens
- Payment profile: your customer record with our payment provider
03 What is kept, and for how long
Some records must be retained for legal or safety reasons. They are kept only for the period required, with your identity removed wherever possible, and are not used for any other purpose.
- Messages and attachments: conversations you took part in are not deleted when your account is deleted. Your name is replaced by "Deleted user", but the content stays so that abuse can be investigated and legal claims can be established or defended. Every message is deleted automatically 3 years after it was sent, unless the conversation is part of an active investigation
- Financial records (invoices, payments for employer plans): as long as the tax and accounting law that applies to the transaction requires — 7 years under Australian law, longer where the law of your country requires it (see the regional supplements of the Privacy Policy)
- Content reports, moderation and security records: kept where needed to prevent abuse and to comply with legal obligations; IP address and device records in them are deleted after 3 years, or after 10 years where they are tied to an active case
- Consent records: kept as proof that consent was given
- Reviews: the star ratings you gave and received stay in the other party's aggregate score, without your name, photo or the written text
- Anonymised analytics: retained indefinitely; it no longer identifies you
After the 30-day period, deletion is permanent. Your profile, listings and applications cannot be restored, and a new account will start from scratch.
04 Deleting some data without closing your account
You can edit or remove most profile details, listings and saved jobs inside the app. For anything you cannot remove yourself, email privacy@instantjob.app and describe what you would like deleted. These requests are handled within 30 days, or within the shorter deadline the law of your country sets.
Full details of your rights and the regional rules that apply to you are in our Privacy Policy.
